Printer Drivers and Downloads

Think4inc has happily provided driver information for years to our customers, but with so many printers and manufacturers we have decided to make a concise page with links to most manufacturer download pages. We will be updating this page and adding more manufacturers as regularly as possible to keep our customers up to date.

The print driver is the piece of software that converts your document, image, or web page into data that your printer understands, thus allowing you to print what you see on your computer. They are very complicated, custom built programs unique (for the most part) to the printer in question. They also are often unique to the operating system on your computer (ie: an Apple OSX driver won't work on Windows XP though the XP driver may work for Windows ME but not Windows 98). The really important thing is that you have the right driver for your printer and computer combination, and the printer manufacturers all provide download pages for their drivers and other useful printer utilities.

Apple

Apple's website is set up for assisting Apple computer users, as Apple left the printer market some time ago. The best way to get your Apple printer driver is to do a search for your printer model on the downloads page linked below.

Brother

Brother's driver download page is a simple series of drop down menus. Select your printer or multi-function device, and it will take you to a page for selecting your operating system and language. Brother also offers utility programs and downloadable manuals for its printers in the same area.

CalComp

CalComp is primarily a plotter and CAD graphics printer manufacturer. They do not have a large line of machines, but Think4inc does sell their cartridges so we feel we should provide the driver link. Simply choose your operating system (PC or Mac) and you will be provided with a list of drivers and downloads. You will need to know exactly what you are looking for, as the list has descriptions, but is sorted alphabetically by file name, not product use.

Canon

Canon's download page has both a search function and drop down menus to use. This page covers all of Canon's product line, so you will see options for their cameras, scanners, and calculators, as well as your printer. Canon offers your printer driver as well as any extra software that came with your printer (ie: Easy Photo Printer, etc...). Canon also offers instruction manuals in both PDF (Adobe Acrobat) format and HTML, as well as original product spec sheets.

Copystar

Copystar seems to use Kyocera Mita technology for most of its printers. We are unsure if the Kyocera Mita drivers are a direct fit, but Copystar does have its own download section with drivers, manuals, specifications, and product brochures. It uses a standard printer type to machine models drill down function.

Dell

Dell, like Apple, is much more focused on the computer market than the printer market. Simply choose "printer" in the product type menu and then select your printer model. The next page will ask for your operating system and language.

Epson

Epson uses the drop down system for finding your printer, and offers drivers, downloads, manuals and documents, as well as FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) and troubleshooting guides for their printers. Be sure to choose the correct operating system for your driver as they are listed together once you choose Mac or Windows.

Gestetner

Gestetner has access to drivers, applications, user manuals and an FAQ/Knowlegebase. It is a simple to use interface for drivers and downloads. Each machine type has its own drop down menu of models right on the first page of the drivers/applications section. Once you choose your machine model you get to choose your language and operating system. You may click on each download for a pop-up description before downloading.

Hewlett Packard

Hewlett Packard has the largest line of printers and multifunction machines in the industry. This wide selection of current and previous models means that there are a few extra steps and choices in their download section before you reach your particular information or driver. Our link will take you to the Printing and Multifunction part of HP's Support and Drivers area. First choose whether you have a Printer or a Multifunction/All-in-One. Next, you choose the model name of your machine (ie: Photosmart, PSC, Deskjet, Officejet, Laserjet, etc...), then the model series by number (ie: 2400 series, 7600 series, etc...), then you choose the actual machine. The site will then ask for your operating system and language to determine the correct drivers, downloads, and other information.

Konica Minolta

Konica and Minolta have completely merged into one company. So regardless of wheter you bought your printer as a Konica, a Minolta, or the new combined brand, this is your download page. You may also find user documentation, warranty info, and an answer base through the left side navigation bar. First select you type of machine. If you have an old machine, you may need to look in the "discontinued products" section. Once you choose your machine, you will have access to drivers, documentation, utilities, and the answer base for your model. As usual, choose the operating system that your computer uses to download the correct driver.

Kyocera Mita

Kyocera and Mita have completely merged into one company. The download section is first divided by country. After choosing your country, you have a simple drill down by machine type and machine model with access to drivers, manuals, specifications, and product brochures. We found it interesting, but relatively confusing, that the site is branded Kyocera, but the web address is Mita.com.

Lanier

Lanier has a simple to use interface for drivers and downloads. Each machine type has its own drop down menu of models right on the first page of the download section. Once you choose your machine model you get to choose your language and operating system. You may click on each download for a pop-up description before downloading.

Lexmark

Lexmark has finished updating their driver and download section, and it is now one of best on the web. Lexmark provides access to drivers, software, user guides, manuals, and product compatibility lists through a user friendly interface. The driver and dowload section can navigated through a search function or a drill down operation. The drill down function starts with machine type (All-in-One, Inkjet, etc...) and has images of the actual printers to help select model. Once you choose your model, you will choose which operating system your computer uses to download the correct driver.

Okidata

Okidata has a simple and easy to use driver and software section. Choose the printer technology first (laser, fax, inkjet, multifunction), then choose your printer model. The next page will offer a choice of operating systems, with the final page showing drivers for the various languages available.

Samsung

Samsung makes many products other than printers, so its download page does not offer printers as a first option. You must first choose "Computers and Related Products" in the product category drop down menu. Then you may choose printer, fax, or MFP (Multi-Function Printer), the printer type (inkjet, laser, etc...) and finally your printer model.

Sharp

Sharp's website layout is considerably different from the rest in this list. From the link below, you will want to choose your product type from the drop down menu in the center of the page (2. Choose your Product Type). Then, below the Support Options there is a sentence with a live link to "Click here to view all models associated with this product type". Click on the "here" and you will get a list of specific machines. Choose your machine, and you will have access to the print drivers. Depending on the machine, you may need to choose your machine again, or they may list your print driver immediately.

Xerox

Xerox has one of the easiest download areas to use. From the link below, use their simple series of menus starting with Product Type, then Product Family, then the actual machine. They provide access to your drivers and downloads, as well as machine documentation and direct access to support.
